Becoming a member of Unity Spiritual Community of Grand Rapids is more than a title—it’s a way to fully connect with our community, deepen your spiritual journey, and have a voice in shaping the life of our church. Membership allows you to actively participate, support our mission, and grow alongside others who share your commitment to living Unity principles.
To become a member, we ask that you complete our three-part new membership class. If you’re already a member of another Unity church and would like to transfer your membership, you do not need to take the class.
We’ve designed a clear and supportive path for those ready to commit to our spiritual community:
1. Declaration of Interest
Begin by filing an Application for Membership with the Church office to let us know you are ready to take this next step.
2. Connection & Learning
You will meet with a minister to discuss your spiritual journey and ensure a clear understanding of basic Unity principles. For most, this includes attending our New Member Class—a wonderful opportunity to build connections and explore our core teachings.
3. Board Recognition
Once you have completed your orientation, the Senior Minister presents your application to the Board of Trustees. This is our way of officially welcoming you into the fold and recognizing your commitment during their regular meeting.
4. Official Welcome
Upon the Board's vote of approval, you are admitted as an Active Member. You will receive a Certificate of Membership and a formal notification of your status within the community.
5. Active Participation
As a member, you gain the right to vote on congregational matters and play a vital role in the governance and future of Unity Spiritual Community.
